MICHAEL BUCHRAINER​

was born in 1950 in Lienz / East Tyrol {Austria}. After finishing high school at Felbertal Werkschulheim, he first studied architecture before turning to music and completing his guitar studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna under Karl Scheit.

Since 1977 he has been a professor at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory in Feldkirch, where he also completed his studies in composition with Robert Nessler. In addition to his concert career, he was able to gain recognition as a composer through numerous performances of his works.

In the composition competition of the city of Innsbruck in 1986 his "episodes" for orchestra were awarded the first prize; With his first composition "Concertino" for guitar, flute and 8 strings, he had already received a 3rd prize there in 1980.

For the work on "magic mood" for flute, piano and orchestra he was awarded the composer scholarship of Vorarlberg 2000.

The motets "Ave Maria" and "Father Noster"were ranked among the best in the Composition Competition 2001 of the Association of European Choral Associations (AGEC).

The majority of the compositions were produced by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation and repeatedly performed by well-known artists, ensembles and orchestras.
